Mannheim, 02/29/2024. Bastian Fiedler, Managing Director of m:con – mannheim:congress GmbH, and Dr Konstantinos Papoutsis, Managing Director of the German Society for Cardiology sign the contract at the Rosengarten Congress Centre in the presence of Mayor Grötsch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of m:con.
The annual conference of the German Society of Cardiology, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, has been held at the Congress Centre Rosengarten since 1983. Realised as an in-person event with 9,000 participants from around 30 countries until 2019, the congress has been held as a hybrid event since 2021. With the extension of the collaboration for a further six years from 2026, the Congress Center Rosengarten will continue to be the venue for the annual conference.
Since 2003, the m:con team has also been responsible for organising the congress, including participant and speaker management, registration, conception, industrial exhibition, event technology and print and online communication. The organisation of the annual conferences and the DGK Heart Days will also remain in the hands of m:con until 2031.
“The extension of the long-standing and successful cooperation with the German Society of Cardiology is of great importance to us and is a confirmation of the outstanding daily work of the m:con team.
It represents a milestone for Mannheim as a medical congress location. It strengthens the position of Mannheim and the Rosengarten Congress Centre as a conference destination and demonstrates the need for additional space, which will be covered by the new Alice Bensheimer hall from 2025. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the DGK Executive Board and the Managing Director Mr Papoutsis and his team for the trust they have placed in our cooperation with m:con. We will now continue to work together with our regional network, the politicians and holding company MKB and the Supervisory Board of m:con to ensure that the congress city of Mannheim repays this trust through affordable hotel prices and support from the regional network, e.g. through meet mannheim,” says Bastian Fiedler
Dr Konstantinos Papoutsis is looking forward to the future: “With the m:con team and the City of Mannheim, we have two partners at our side that we can always rely on. Together, we are committed to ensuring that congress visits are not a luxury and remain affordable. This is particularly important to us for the next generation of cardiologists.”
Mayor Michael Grötsch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of m:con since 2015, says: “The reliability and trust that has continuously developed over the decades characterises this partnership. On the part of the city, we have always strongly supported the development of the cardiology congress in Mannheim and will continue to do so in the future.”
