Forecast: DGSS - Deutscher Schmerzkongress in Mannheim 2010

For 2010, the venue for the renowned German Congress of Pain hosted by the "German Association of Pain Study" - one of the most important medicine-related congresses in Germany - is, for the first time in 15 years, once again Mannheim and the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. In this fashion, the m:con - mannheim:congress GmbH has once again been recommended as a partner of a large medical professional association. The DGSS's annual conference, which is being held in Berlin from October 7-10 and is already being completely organised by m:con, will receive a new setting in 2010: the m:con Congress Center Rosengarten

More than 8,000 health professionals attend 116th Congress for Internal Medicine

About 8,200 health professionals and scientists from doctors offices and health clinics attended the 116th congress of the German Association for Internal Medicine (DGIM) from 10-14 April at the Rhein-Main-Hallen in Wiesbaden. At the core of the congress were the latest methods used in imaging resonance, infectious medicine, infectiology and intensive medicine. Congress president Professor Dr. Jürgen Schölmerich (Director of the clinic and polyclinic for internal medicine I at the University Clinic in Regensburg) opened the conference. m:con has been entrusted with the five-day events organisation for the last six years - from the planning phase to the acquisition of sponsors, referent management, media passes, participant registration through to the congress technology. The large-scale event with over 2,900 sq metres of rented exhibition space, 128 industrial partners and close to 1,300 speakers began immediately following the 76th annual congress for the German Cardiology Association - a real challenge that m:con was able to cope with in the usual manner.

7,500 guests attend the 76th annual Cardiologists Conference
Standing together for a strong heart

In April, Mannheim was the focus of the medical world: for the 76th annual conference of German cardiologists over 7,500 doctors representing 25 countries met at Rosengarten from 8-10 April in order to inform themselves on the latest developments in cardiovascular medicine.

"Cardiovascular medicine - a common challenge" was the headline of the Cardiovascular Congress held in Mannheim Rosengarten under the lead of conference president Professor Dr. Friedrich Wilhelm Mohr from the Clinic for Cardiac Surgery in Leipzig. The conference's title represented the content: in future, cardiologists and heart specialists would like to cooperate more closely. One area of focus was the new methods of cardiac valve operations.

As a long-standing partner of the specialist association, m:con took over the entire event management of the congress. From the event concept through the acquisition of the sponsors and exhibitors, to the room and exhibition planning, registration of participants, speaker support through to the technical and constructional conception of the stage design, the m:con employees were in full activity.

In total, 1,638 speakers took the podium; the guests had the choice between more than 240 events, and 22 halls from the Mozart Hall to the small conference room were used simultaneously. Even the Dorint Congress Hotel was fully booked. On an area of more than 4,500 sq. metres, 170 industry exhibitors displayed their latest developments. Three operations were transmitted live in the congress centre. 2Live cases are becoming increasingly more important for discussing highly complex specialised surgeries," explained Professor Dr. Karl-Heinz Kuck from Hamburg during the opening press conference. The congress also left its print on the city: with flags, banners, displays and welcome buttons attached to suit coats and blouses, guests were welcomed throughout the entire city.

Located in Mannheim since 1983 and solely organised with full budgeting responsibility by m:con since 2002, the annual conference for the German Association for Cardiologists - Cardiovascular Research e.V./DGK takes place over a three-day period every year after Easter. Since then the Congress has grown ? In 2007 about 7,500 participants attended, in 22 halls 1,650 speakers from 43 nations took the podium, 1,277 abstracts were submitted and 672 posters were displayed. 150 exhibitors covered 4,553 sq. metres of the exhibition area.

In 2006, m:con took over the entire organisation for one of the largest and most traditional congresses in Germany: the Congress of the German Association of Internal Medicine (DGIM). In this year, an especially large number of young medical professionals should be catered to; this was implemented within the scope of the entire event.

About 8,000 participants attended over 280 lectures and presentations held in 16 conference rooms at the 112th internist congress at the Rhein-Main-Hallen in Wiesbaden; 456 posters were shown for the first time on the "poster islands" newly designed by m:con - 600 speakers were looked after in the media centre ? 129 exhibitors covered an area of 3,414 sq. metres; about 700 participants celebrated at the get-together organised by m:con in the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, and 1,000 young medical professionals visited "Chances, the forum for young medical professionals."

Case study: DGKJ 2009

The annual conference of the German Association for Children and Paediatric Medicine e.V./DGKJ always takes place in September over the course of 4 days. Since 2006, m:con has organised the event four times on its own and also taken on full budgeting responsibility, and in 2009 the event was organised in the m:con Congress Center Rosengarten Mannheim. Since 2006, it has also grown in size: in 2009 3,000 participants attended, 600 speakers presented in 25 halls, and 280 abstracts were submitted and displayed as posters. 60 exhibitors covered about 1,300 sq. metres of exhibition area.

Case-Study: DGSS - Deutscher Schmerzkongress in Berlin 2009

The DGSS is the largest scientific pain association in Europe. Around 3,000 experts take part in the annual congress. From 2009, m:con took over the event's entire organisation - from the marketing through the participant registration, catering and the cultural and social activity programmes.

In receiving the bid, the m:con team was able to beat out three other agencies. "The offer from m:con was transparent, open, clean and economically understandable," said DGSS Managing Director Professor Toni Graf-Baumann regarding the decision of the medical association.

Dear Ms Staude,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you again, also in the name of the DMKG, for the excellent organisation of our event in Seeon. The feedback I received was, for the most part, extremely positive.
You played a big role in the success of the congress. I hope that you enjoyed the congress as much as we did.

With my best wishes for the future.

Sincerely yours,

Dear Ms Drabold,

I would like to sincerely thank you once again for your support in accompaniment of our management conference on 8 October 2009 in Mannheim.
Together we were able to present important subject areas to our managing directors and sales directors in a very significant event.
A special note of thanks personally goes to you, since it is only with your help that we were able to - in the very limited set-up time available, in other words overnight - finish everything on time.

Best wishes,

Director, Rhine-Main Region

September 2009

Dear Mr Maugé,

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for the friendly and patient cooperation within the scope of the preparations for our 105th yearly conference of the DGKJ and, at the same time, to give you and your team - especially Ms Ruckriegel and Ms Schaube - a heartfelt thank you and sincere gratitude for the perfect event organisation. The event was punctuated by a high amount of professionalism. You created the foundation for professionals from children's and paediatric health, social paediatrics, paediatric surgery as well as the health and paediatric nurses to meet and to be able to exchange professional knowledge and experiences as well as present an informative industry exhibition on your premises.

The conference's festive surroundings - in the form of a diversely designed evening programme that was selected with an eye for detail and that will leave lasting impressions - fascinated, enthralled and enchanted all participants.

During the annual conference, as well as in the week following the event, we received numerous amounts of positive feedback all containing a similar message: the conference was a success and there were many excellent opportunities to exchange information, combined with the placement of new expertise, and numerous opportunities to meet old business contacts as well as new people.

Again, thank you very much for the wonderful time in Mannheim. It was enriched by success, happiness and cordiality on which we can look back with satisfaction and on which we will gladly think back to. We wish you and your team continued success in the implementation of your congress planning and conference events and especially for those that will be held at your Congress Center "Rosengarten" in Mannheim.

Best regards,

Dear Mr Maugé,

Having returned back to Düsseldorf, I would like to take this opportunity, of course also in the name of the Board of Directors and my employees, to thank you and the entire m:con team.

We just completed our obligatory monthly meeting, whose main topic was - as you may have been able to guess - the progression of the congress. In this year, there were no significant problems and the cooperation and the support with and through your team was, once again, excellent!

I'm already looking forward to the fall conference in Dresden!

Sincerely yours,
Dipl.-Math. K. Papoutsis
